Suoni Controvento returns for summer 2026 with a widespread edition touching 26 municipalities in Umbria. The heart of the festival beats in Assisi, where the Rocca Maggiore hosts four highly anticipated evenings: on July 31 I Cani, on August 1 Mannarino, on August 4 Coez, and on August 5 Angelina Mango. The lineup stretches to the grand finale on September 13, when Giovanni Allevi conducts a concert for symphony orchestra on the parvis of the Basilica Superiore di San Francesco, from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM. An event that combines music and landscape in a scenario of rare evocative power.
VIII Centenario della Morte di San Francesco

Assisi celebrates the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis (1226-2026) with a rich program of over 80 events intertwining spirituality, art and culture. The heart of the celebrations falls between August and October 2026, with the visit of Pope Leo XIV and the meeting with the Youth of Europe from 3 to 6 August, and the Franciscan solemnities on 3 and 4 October in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. Highlights include the exhibition 'Franciscus. Fratello in arte' by Michelangelo Pistoletto, the street chalk festival 'Francesco nell'arte dei Madonnari' and the theatrical performances of 'Franciscus gloriosus'.

Fourth edition of 'Note di Assisi', the musical, cultural and artistic event that enlivens the summer evenings of the city. The program includes twenty-two concert performances, with a lineup ranging across different genres. The August events take place in Piazza Garibaldi in Santa Maria degli Angeli, with live bands and artists every evening. Among the guests: Maltese & Friends, Banda Musicale di Giano, Fancy Diamond, Band del Bosco, Rio Sacro Quintetto, Duo Pettirossi-Magrini, Le Freak Disco Band and Pop 70.
Cinema alla Rocca 2026

From August 8 to 30, 2026, the Rocca Maggiore of Assisi hosts a new edition of "Cinema alla Rocca", the open-air film series in the Giardino degli Incanti. The lineup mixes classics of Italian and international cinema, animated films for families, and a mini-series dedicated to the figures of Chiara and Francesco d'Assisi. Among the announced titles are La grazia, The Devil Wears Prada 2, Zootopia 2, Michael, Francesco giullare di Dio, Welcome Venice, and the documentary Rino Gaetano, ma il cielo è sempre più blu. Over twenty screenings are scheduled, every evening. The series is promoted by the Municipality of Assisi in collaboration with Cinema Esperia in Bastia Umbra. Some evenings adhere to the national project "Cinema Revolution" with reduced ticket prices.
37ª Rassegna Antichi Sapori

The Pro Loco of Rivotorto organizes the 37th edition of the Rassegna Antichi Sapori, scheduled from August 14 to 23, 2026 in Piazza Antichi Sapori. Every evening, food stalls offer traditional Umbrian dishes prepared with local ingredients. The 2026 edition opened with a preview dedicated to solidarity, which was met with great participation. The event is now a fixed appointment of the Assisan summer, capable of attracting numerous gourmets every year.

Back in Palazzo di Assisi, the festival dedicated to the Arvoltolo Farcito returns, a stuffed and fried pastry that is a classic of Umbrian tradition. For ten days, from August 28 to September 6, 2026, the stands set up by the Cultural Association Palatium offer this freshly prepared specialty, along with a wide selection of local norcinerie: cured meats, sausages, porchetta, and other typical products of Umbrian norcineria. The festival takes place in the hamlet of Palazzo, a fraction of Assisi, and combines gastronomy, music, and entertainment for all ages. Marcia delle 8 Porte

The 13th edition of the Marcia delle 8 Porte lights up the historic center of Assisi on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Organized by the Assisi Runners running club, this night road race offers a city circuit starting from Piazza del Comune. 47ª Cavalcata di Satriano

La 47esima edizione della Cavalcata di Satriano si terrà il 5 e 6 settembre 2026 ad Assisi e nella frazione di Capodacqua. L'evento, che quest'anno assume una veste straordinaria per il centenario francescano, vedrà la partecipazione di gruppi ippo-montati dell'Esercito Italiano (Lancieri di Montebello), della Polizia di Stato, della Polizia Penitenziaria, dell'Arma dei Carabinieri e dei Carabinieri Forestali. From 19 to 21 September 2026, Assisi4Life returns to the historic center and the slopes of Monte Subasio with a special edition linked to the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis. The common thread is the four elements (water, air, earth and fire), declined in a mix of sport, wellness and educational moments open to all. The program includes outdoor sports, recreational activities and in-depth spaces designed to involve children, adults and families. Trail running, walks, breathing practices and games for the little ones alternate in an atmosphere that combines movement, nature and reflection, enhancing the Franciscan landscape.

Lo spettacolo, dal titolo "Potevo avere tutto", offre una lettura della vicenda del santo vicina ai giovani, affrontando temi come la libertà, i desideri e il successo. Le matinée si terranno il 7 e 8 ottobre 2026 presso il Grand Hotel di Assisi.
